Katie is one of our senior technicians. She was born in Texas, but raised here in Franklin. Before she was a technician here at WCAH, her family were loyal clients since 1996. She has had many pets throughout her life, but it was her cat, Lucky, who changed her life for the better. Lucky, unfortunately, was diagnosed with diabetes and Katie spent 5 years taking care of him—giving insulin twice a day, making sure he had the proper diet, monitoring his overall health, and making frequent vet visits to check his glucose. While taking care of Lucky, Katie realized that she wanted to become a Veterinary Technician.

Katie went to Columbia State Community College’s Veterinary Technician program and graduated at the top of her class. All throughout the program, her goal was to work at WCAH because she loved the people and the care that they gave to her family and to all of her pets. Katie had the opportunity to do clinical rotations through WCAH and was hired on as a technician after graduating from the vet tech program.

Katie has been a Veterinary Technician here since 2016. She has grown in her role as Veterinary Technician and now is mainly a dental and surgical technician: she preps patients for procedures, monitors patients while under anesthesia, manages anesthesia during procedures, cleans teeth, assists the surgeon during surgery, and monitors patients while in recovery. In her spare time, she loves to watch and collect movies (both old and new), spend time with her family and friends, travel (favorite place is Seattle, Washington), and snuggle with her trouble-maker of a cat, Leo.
